WHY LANGUAGE IMMERSION?

Recent studies have shown that the best time to learn a second or third language is between birth and 7 years.  The immersion method has been utilized for many years in many countries throughout the world.  Immersion motivates the child to learn without any pressure.  Fears that the child's native language could suffer are totally unfounded.  Research shows that multilingualism at a young age actually enhances a child's overall language skills.
Parents don't have to use or know the language.  They just have to be open to the fact that language is a special tool in preparation for their future years ahead.

WILL MY CHILD FORGET RUSSIAN AS HE OR SHE STARTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?

Studies have shown that your child may regress slightly if there are limited or no opportunities to use the second language in elementary school or beyond.  However, the skills and knowledge remain as a base for if and when the language is resumed.  And most importantly, your child will have a much easier time learning other languages in the future.

WILL MY CHILD GET FRUSTRATED WHEN HE OR SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND?

Research has shown that children may find the early days frustrating.  However, most adapt easily and quickly understand routines and directions.  Our teachers are used to working with children who don't know the language and will give visual clues and physical prompts that will inspire inquisitive minds and will help get their meaning across.

WHAT DO YOU OFFER CHILDREN WHOSE FIRST LANGUAGE IS RUSSIAN?

Our learning environment offers children whose primary language and culture is Russian the opportunity to broaden their language potential and acquire a deeper interest and knowledge of their traditions and cultural roots.  To these children, we also offer classes in English as a Second Language to help them acquire a certain comfort level in English as they transition from preschool to kindergarden and to their future endeavors.
